PSA for fic writers whose only exposure to Jewish holidays is Hanukkah.
This coming Sunday and Monday (June 9-10, 2019) is Shavuot, the celebration of the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai.
Because of Reasons, one tradition for the holiday is to avoid the eating of meat. Because of Jewish Reasons, it has become a holiday celebrated by
1) Reading the Book of Ruth, which centers around deep love and devotion between two women,
2) staying up all night studying & arguing, and
3) the consumption of vast quantities of cheese blintzes, ice cream, and cheesecake.
You’re welcome.
